Product Introduction

The test chain is designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of 4.26 of the IEC60598-1. It is mainly used for accidental short-circuit protection tests of uninsulated, accessible and opposite SELV parts of the lamp. The test chain is made of copper-zinc alloy (Cu63Zn37) without any surface treatment or coating. The resistance value is within the range of 2.5±20%Ω when the load is stretched at 200g/m.

4.26.3 Test chain: A chain of sufficient length of an uncoated metal, having links in  accordance with Figure 29 and made of 63 % Cu/37 % Zn. The chain shall have a resistance  value of 2,5 Ω/m ± 20 % when stretched with a load of 200 g/m.

Note:

1The test chain is a copper-zinc alloy product, which is easy to oxidize, so pay attention to maintenance. 

2When the resistance value fluctuates, it can be ultrasonically cleaned or immersed in a weak acid of 0.5% concentration. 

3Excessive counterweight causes the wire diameter to become smaller.

Q1: How to use the test chain?

A:1To measure the resistance of the test chain, you need to straighten it first to ensure that the range is 2.5±20%Ω. 

2 Measure the space distance between the two poles of the SELV component and record it as X, the unit (cm/cm). 

3The standard counterweight is suspended at both ends of the test chain=15*X*g or the maximum counterweight of 250g. 

4 Install a thermocouple at a suitable position of the sample to be tested, and switch on the temperature inspection instrument. 

5 The sample is connected to a power supply of 0.9~1.1 times the rated voltage. 

6 Place the test chain and conduct a short circuit test. 

Note: The melting of the test chain can cause burns.

Q2: The resistance value of the test chain should be checked before each measurement. How should we do if the measured resistance value is far from the needed value?

A:Our engnieer suggests to immerse the test chain in 8% dilute sulphuric acid for 2~5 minutes.( be cautious when handling.)

The process of immersion involves a chemical reaction between copper and acid.

After the solution becomes green, put the test chain into water for several times until the water is clear and test chain is bright.
